Welcome to the Guidance and Counseling Program at Barnwell Primary!
My door is always open for parent questions and concerns regarding your child’s success.
Components of Our Guidance Program:
• Small Groups
The counseling program also provides small group experiences for students who could benefit from additional skill training and personal support. These groups are offered throughout the year and include a wide range of topics. Participating in small groups can provide a safe place for students to learn skills. Once these skills have been introduced, a group experience provides students an opportunity to apply those skills in a safe environment.
• Individual Sessions
My door is always open to students who need help adjusting to school and/or dealing with specific problems they are experiencing. I am honored to be able to provide a safe place for students to share their concerns and feelings. Students can be seen by parent, teacher, or staff, or individual student referrals.
• Project HOPE
(Healthy Opportunities/Positive Encouragement)
Project HOPE is a mentoring program providing a variety of assistance to our at-risk student population. The goal of each mentor is dependent upon the individual need(s) of the mentee. These students are identified through teacher referral and must receive written parent permission. Each mentor will work with his/her assigned student once a week for 30 minutes. This program seeks to provide a positive influence to those mentored.
