 States are required to administer an English language proficiency assessment to limited English proficient students in grades K through 12. The assessment administered for this purpose is the ACCESS for ELLS®. Additional information on ACCESS for ELLS® can be found at

Benchmark tests are developed and administered by the district to measure student progress in achieving the established instructional goals. Teachers use benchmark test results to plan instruction. Benchmarks tests are given at the end of each nine weeks.

Pre-K and Kindergarten Readiness Assessments 

Every student entering public prekindergarten and kindergarten must be administered a readiness assessment by the forty-fifth (45th) day of the school year. The assessment will assess each child's early language and literacy development, mathematical thinking, physical well-being, and social-emotional development. The purpose of the assessment is to provide teachers and parents or guardians with information to address the readiness needs of each student. South Carolina College-and-Career- Ready Assessments (SC READY)  

The South Carolina College-and-Career-Ready Assessments (SC READY) is a statewide assessment in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics. All students in grades 3-8 are required to take the SC READY except those students who qualify for the South Carolina National Center and State Collaborative (SC-NCSC). SC Performance Tasks Assessments (PTA) Grades 2-5 
The SC Performance Tasks Assessments (PTA) is administered to assist in the identification of students for participation in programs for the gifted and talented.  
Testing Students with Disabilities
